As I mentioned in the previous post, I participated in the Asiarooms.com Social Travel Star competition for their search to find new host for their brand new Youtube travel series. The finals took place at the Drama Black Box at the National Library. Our panel of judges included Samuel Seow (Celebrity Lawyer), Choy (from May & Choy) and two others from the Asiarooms team. I definitely had a fun time during our session and I really enjoyed watching all the other 9 teams try their best as well.
Here’s vivi & I! So glad we got together to participate in this competition together! I think we only have nice things to say about each other!

All in all, I’m glad for the experience, the people I met, the amazing team behind the whole competition and of course the awesome people at Asiarooms.com! I’m really humbled by some of the feedback Vivi and I received and it’s definitely not the last you’ll be seeing of us!
Finally, congratulations to both Adam and Kelly! (both who I believe are in KL reviewing their first hotel already!!!
Last year was filled with competitions… There was the Panasonic Channel-e EJ competition, 987fm So You Wanna Be a DJ, Singtel Casting Call. My first for this year would be one for Asiarooms.com! Paired with Vivienne Tseng (the sassy chic whom I met from Singtel Casting Call last year!), we’re ready to take on the world! (hahah pun intended)
Here’s our entry that got us to the Top 10!
Basically, the winner of this competition gets to travel to 4 different countries and review 12 different hotels just so you know which to go to, and which to shun! The finals are happening tomorrow (26th April) and I’m currently writing this while dyeding my hair a new colour. If you’re reading this before 2359 on the 25th, do remember to head on over to the Asiarooms.com Facebook page to vote for Vivienne and myself!
Also, check out the finalists vid here!
Yeap! We promise to buy back souvenirs and give them to lucky winners so hopefully thats an added incentive!
Wedding bells! Not mine of course but still a joyous occasion I’m glad I was a part of! I hosted my very first wedding for the year at Orchid Country Club for the lovely couple Desmond and Joannalyn.
Desmond’s cousin was my co-host and mandarin emcee for the evening.
The next wedding I’ll be doing will actually be just one month away and at Crowne Plaza Hotel for Amelia and Linus! That girl actually “booked” me more than a year in advance and the time is finally here. Time really flies!
Transformers The Ride Press Conference & Launch Party took place on 2nd Dec, Friday to celebrate the worldwide premier of the first ever 3D Transformer ride. Michael Bay, director and executive producer of the popular Transformers movie series was also in town to promote the ride. I had the privilege of attending the event and experiencing the ride before the official launch the next day! Thanks to R3LOAD NETWORK!
The event started with the press conference, then the ride experience after.
Michael Bay and Thierry Coup
Photos above are of the holding areas one would pass when waiting for the ride (waiting times are estimated to be 1.5 hours long). The different areas are designed to allow visitors to understand the ride, even if they’ve never watched Transformers before. For the full walkthrough, watch the video below!!!
There is also a merchandise store and a sci-fi themed cafe located at the ride!!! Too cute!
This is EVAC – The brand new robot created for the purpose of this ride. During the entire ride you play Evac and go through his quest to defend the Nest. The ride is all sorts of amazing and you should really try it if given the chance! It’s had great 3D visuals and it far surpassed my expectations of a simulation ride!!
At 8pm, the launch party was due to start. Here’s the stage. Michael Bay made his grand appearance in a yellow chevy no less.

For more detail of what happened that day/ more visuals/ to see me covering the event, do watch the video of me presenting on r3load.net! And of course a photo to end off this entry…
A new competition-based initiative by Singtel to look for a presenter for their new Youtube Channel, Singtel Casting Call was to help look for their next social media star. I was amongst 84 hopefuls who submitted their entries! Here’s my last minute take…
I then made it to the TOP 14! :)
Everything happened really quickly and we were scheduled a shoot for the following day. There, we were told to present a talent of ours. I picked sketching.
Finally, on the 22 of November, the 14 of us gathered at Sinema @ Old School for the finals. We were told to present a script, a funny story and go through a Q&A session each. Here’s a snippet.
And…. so, now that the official winner has been announced, I can also finally put this blog entry up! I’m a little bummed that I didn’t manage to win the competition, was really looking forward to a fruitful holiday getting busy with events, meeting new people and such, but I believe that there’re bigger and better things for me out there!
Once again, thank you for all the support I’ve received through this short competition, to all the people who shared my post and voted for me on the Singtel Facebook App, to those who kept texting and tweeting me to get updates. Thank you! To everyone else reading this, I’m still going at it and if you need an emcee I’m available at juuyeow@gmail.com. HEHEHEHHE
Here are a couple of official photos I got off the official Singtel Casting Call app that I think paints a pretty good picture of what happened at the finals :)
The panel of judges for the final include Tracy Phillips, Nadya Hutagalung, Hossan Leong, Derrick Heng (Singtel) and Miguel Bernas (Singtel)
The winner, 27 year old Joanne Marie Sim. Congrats babe!
I think most importantly I’m glad I got to know some of the girls from the competition better. It’s amazing how I never knew there were that many people with a passion for hosting and presenting before this. I love how we click so well and can share experiences. I certainly have alot more to learn form the girls — who can be considered veterans in the industry! :)
(Left) The super bubbly and real bikerchic, Vivienne! (Right) The lovely and super sweet Syaza!

& my fave picture of the entire series…
because it reminds me that sometimes the greatest takeaway from a competition like that isnt the grand prize (although it is $10,000 CASH). Moving on to greater things!
